Ok, so to be honest, I normally won't read any kind of historical novel, don't care what kind it is. I was given this book for review so I made myself read it. Guess what? I actually enjoyed it. The characters are funny as are the situations that come up. Cherry is a modern day woman, when she shouldn't be. She is being forced into a marriage, not for love, but by arrangement. She runs away to find her nanny and runs into Sky, who is on his way to meet the woman he has asked to marry. They have an instant attraction and don't realize they are each others intended. Even if you aren't a fan of historical romance, it's still a fun, easy read and I actually enjoyed it.

I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. Ok wow, this book has a lot going on. Half vamp, half witch Shawna is on the run from her crazy, evil vampire father who wants to turn her all the way into a full vamp. Shawna is a white witch and although she needs blood for her vampire side, she only consumes animal blood from the butcher. She wants nothing to do with him. She runs to Scotland to a little rental cottage owned by a gentleman squire. He seems quite nice but a little off. She has been approached by Chadwick, who claims to want to help her, but she doesn’t know or trust him. She also keeps running into an old acquaintance named Damon, He’s vamp, but he’s also something else too, but for some reason, she trusts him. Throughout this book, she is stalked by vampires and electric entity’s amongst other things. Chad says he wants to help her, train her, and defeat her father. She can’t figure out exactly what he is either and isn’t sure if she trusts him, but there is a major attraction between them that can’t be ignored. After a series of close calls, Shawna agrees to train with Chad. But will she have time to hone her skills before her father finds and tries to change her or the entity gets her? Her old friend Damon will come into play during the story as well as DRACULA! Great book, must read.
  • Prince in the Mist on July 21, 2012

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Wow, this book packed a lot of punch for a novella. This is a story of Fae prince Breslyn from his perspective. Breslyn meats and falls for human, Chartelle, whose brother, Storm is due to be the next Druid Priest. They are in the middle of a war against the Brits and Bres is to be a guardian to Storm. Chartelle is already married and has a son with a pedophile whom she loathes and who is also a traitor to the Scots. Breslyn has to find a way to get rid of her husband, among others, without breaking Seelie laws by killing a human. He has a lot to do, protecting Storm and the girl he is falling for and trying to figure out how to be with the married Chartelle and still do his duty in Fae. I actually cried reading this novella. Wonderful.
  • Shee Willow-Legend on July 24, 2012

Willow Lang is hired by Squire Shayne to restore his paintings, she is attracted to him immediately. Willow is half fae half human seer. She steers clear of all things fae due to bad experiences as a halfling child. Her father Desmond is missing, she is fighting monsters, finding relics, dealing with advances from men, and trying to figure out who she can trust. It seems like everyone she comes in contact with has secrets. She doesn't know who to trust. On top of all of that, an evil seelie fae, trapped in unseelie is trying to open a portal to escape and release all the evil unseelie into the human realm. Will she find someone to trust in, as well as helping the seelie, or will she turn her back on all of it. Great story, very interesting characters, several different love angles, and an all around good read.
  • The Winged Things on Aug. 12, 2012

I was given this book in return for an honest review. This book is a short story, so I will keep my review short as well. The power is out, citizens band together in street and are attacked by leathery winged, black eyed, clawed flying creatures. They run to a house to collect their wits. A stranger shows up and they all decide to make a run for the church that has supplies for the homeless. Some make it, some don't. Angels and Demons and a nice short read
  • Eternal Breath of Darkness on Aug. 20, 2012

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Haden is a warrior and a demon. Unlike other demon stories, in this book the demons have been protecting the humans since the beginning. Haden is obsessed, in love and wants to mate with Caylee. Unfortunately due to a vicious attack on Caylee, she cannot stand to be touched. Now a powerful vampire, who has the assistance of a very powerful demon, is after her. I wanted to turn Caylee over my knee because she is so stubborn and won't listen to anything Haden says. It's hard to protect someone who never listens (anyone with kids can relate, LOL). The danger isn't just from the vampires though, her own uncle is a horribly abusive person who uses her attack to control her. Will Haden ever get her to trust him enough to follow his intstructions, can they be together forever as mates, or will her obsessive inner demons get her killed or worse? Sorry, you have to read it yourself to find out. I loved this story, Caylee's character, even though I wanted to smack her, was actually a more realistic portrayal of a victim than most. She didn't just instantly get over her past when confronted with a hot guy. I liked that. You find yourself rooting for Haden, Caylee and Haden's team of demons. I loved it. WaAr
  • Wilted (A Witching Pen Series Prequel) on Sep. 28, 2012

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Wilted is the prequel to the Witching Pen novella. It will give you a brief background on the main characters from the book. Elena and Karl who are best friends and share Elena's secret. She is a 13th generation witch and possible the most powerful witch ever. Her mother also holds a secret, one that could shatter everything and everyone. Super easy read.
  • Project ELE on Sep. 28, 2012

I was given this book in return for an honest review. The basic overview is that a virus is killing everyone, over half the planet has perished. The government has built shelters, you have to pass inspection and get an imunization before entering. The government plans on heating up the earth to kill the virus and anyone outside of the shelters will most likely die. Willow and her family are on their way in, infortunately her baby brother tests positive for the virus and will have to stay outside along with her mother. Willow and her father go on alone. Inside is everything to meet your basic needs, the kids work part time and go to school part time and the adults work full time. All communication from the leaders to the people, appts, work schedules, free days, etc)are on tablets that everyone has to carry with them at all times. Willow makes friends with Conner, Claire and Alec. They all soon discover that the rich rule the roost. Zack and his crew of rich brats don't have to work, have fantastic quarters and are mean as can be. Willow and her friends find a secret cavern while exploring and make it their special hangout. Everyone has settled into a routine when the kids start exhibiting special abilities, Willow more so than the others. Zack knows and he has them too. Pretty soon there is double crossing and the kids will find out that there is more going on in the shelter than could ever imagine and their only hope is to escape or become lab rats. The ending is a fantastic suprise and leaves the book open for a sequel. I loved this book. I started reading and couldn't put the book down. The characters are well developed and the story has a great flow. There are no dull moments in the book, even when it is desdribing day to day activities, the author has made everything interesting. Fantastic job. I want more and can't wait for the next book that I am sure will be coming. WaAr

  • Oh Cherry Ripe on Sep. 28, 2012

I was given this book in return for an honest review. Ok, so normally I'm not a huge fan of historical fiction, however, once I got past my prejudice, I found that this was a well written, entertaining book. Cherry is headstrong, boyish, independant, and modern female. She would have done well in todays society. Her step mother tells her that she has arranged a marriage with a suitable gentleman and Cherry sees red as she wants to marry for love. She runs away, planning on going to her old nanny's for help. On the way, she runs into Sky, he is a well to do young man, who has requested a woman's hand in marriage, having never met her and needing help in caring for his younger siblings. They have an instant chemistry. I think you can tell where this is going. This book is chock full of humor, Cherry is entirely to headstrong for it not to be. Go check it out even if you aren't a huge fan of historical fiction. I enjoyed it.
