Nick Foxx

A diverse blend of music floated through the rooms of Nick Foxx’s house as he grew up. His family listened to and played blues, jazz, folk, gospel, country, rock’n’roll and classical music and they all fascinated him. Late in the night, he’d sit with his father and grandfather while they told stories and sang their favorites.

Professors and artists mingled with ranchers and farmers around picnic tables in Nick's backyard to enjoy fried fish, barbecue, and good music as the neighborhood children chased fireflies in the twilight.

The music he heard filled his head with dreams of being a professional musician. He played at local dances, clubs, and bars before he could drive. By twenty-one, he had performed for crowds of thousands, heard himself on the radio, and sang on live TV. His music has been used in advertising, film, television, theater, and played in concert halls. Records he worked on decorate the walls of his office and home.

Nick began publishing ebooks in 2008 with Anonymous Publishing. While writing under the pen name, Nicky Faulkes, Nick’s work “The Time Of My Life” won the Earth Day Story Contest on and gained him the praise of peers. It encouraged him to keep writing and telling stories.

Nick is a semi-retired composer and musician, happily married for over twenty years to a beautiful, loving woman who is the love of his life. Nick’s stories are a blend of his personal experiences and fantasies that merge to bring genuine, relatable characters and engaging tales to the page. His greatest delight is to share the joy he feels creating new work with the people who listen to his music or read his stories.

Smashwords Interview

What is your e-reading device of choice?
My iPhone or my iPad. New toys are always fun. The convenience of having literally thousands of books in my pocket has made my phone the most common way I read on the go.
Describe your desk
Furniture building has long been a passion of mine. The sofas, dining table, shelves and bed we use are all my work. It's probably a way to show some creativity and craft that lasts beyond the moment. As a musician, my work only exists in real time. When I finish playing a song, it doesn't exist anymore. Other pursuits like photography, drawing, and painting helped me fill that void when I was younger. But as an adult, I became fascinated with building furniture. Not everyone needs me to write a song about them but everybody like a comfy place to sit.

I built my desk to suit my needs for recording and composing. The way it's configured, I can sit or stand while I work. It's got a 50" video monitor and houses a lot of audio gear. While it was fun to build and a good place to work, it's not the only place I write. Sitting at the kitchen table, curled up with my laptop or tablet on the couch, or leaning back on a pile of pillows in bed can be a lot more conducive to writing.

Well written characters, hot kinky sex and a great set up for more. I've got to read the rest of the Melody series. She's the fantasy of every geeky guy-we're just sure that beneath that quiet facade is a freak waiting to be set free. Good work!

This is an honest, intense look at the world through Gerty's eyes. It made stop and think about how I react when I meet someone who is disabled.
  • Drive Thru on Feb. 03, 2013

An intriguing flight of fantasy that showcases Gerty's ability to free-associate and go with the flow.
