Bruce Nappi

Bruce Nappi was formerly Director of the medical simulation training center at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville. A strong interest in the problems of family life in the modern age led him to investigate the range of life styles families found themselves in during the turbulent ‘60s – ‘80s and the problems associated with them. One issue which seemed to cut across all the life styles was the difficulty handling the growth transition from childhood to adulthood, particularly in sex education. Mr. Nappi took graduate level studies in sexuality at the U. of Lowell, participated in the Sexual Attitude Reassessment seminar sponsored by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and was trained as an instructor for the About Your Sexuality program sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church. He was formerly a member of the Association for Humanistic Psychology. He holds both Bachelors and Masters degrees in Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Sex Education in the Schools explores the emotional issues that drive the sex education debate in the U.S. It summarizes the pros and cons; then digs into the hidden meanings and human emotions that produce the misinformation and divisiveness. Unfortunately, those issues have not changed much since the book was first written in 1986, making this second edition just as relevant in 2010.
