I thought this story was very sweet. My only problem with it is that the quotations need to be separated out so that the reader knows who is talking at what time.
Also, maybe instead of skipping to "three years later", summarize what happened in the meantime, because it seems like the story had a bit of a gap in it.
I'm so glad I caught the third book in this series when it was being uploaded and managed to go back to find the first. I thought the cover just was so eye-catching that I had to try it.
The characters are quirky, funny, and bigger than life, especially the title character, Pembleton. The narrator, Tristan Limb says exactly what the reader is thinking and plays the straight man in the absurd scenarios, a combination I've always loved in comedy. This series reminds me a lot of Dr. Who in that the writing is carefully thought out and unabashedly geeky and slightly irreverent at times.
I'm looking forward to following this series.
