What were you like at school?
I was a nightmare! I rarely paid attention; I was usually too busy talking or looking out of the window. I never did homework, and my work in class was only done to a decent standard if it was a subject I was interested in. I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone; one of my biggest regrets in life is not working harder at school.
When did you first realise you wanted to be a writer?
When I was about halfway through writing my first book, Missing. At first, I was only writing because I had the story in my head and just needed to get it out. A few chapters in, I realised that I was really enjoying writing, and loved the way the storylines and characters seemed to develop on their own. I wasn’t even intending on showing anyone the book at first, but after a while I wanted people to read it and love it as much as I did. Now I find it very difficult to stop writing.
