William S (Bill) Cherry

I've been an active writer for more than 50 years. In "real life" I am a financial planning coach for people, businesses and churches. The Marquis Publication Board awarded me with listings in "Who's Who in America" and "Who's Who in Finance and Business." Galveston is where I was born and lived most of my life, and I had the good fortune of being born at a time when parents and grandparents of my friends could tell me the "real" stories of Galveston's past.; the one's not written down. So, I've written more than seven hundred of them. Most appeared as weekly columns in the Galveston County Daily News, while others were columns for Texas Escapes Magazine. Additionally, I have written pieces for Fortune, Playboy, The New Yorker, plus a number of newspapers. I also made regular appearances on News-24 Houston, telling the tales of Galveston. My first book, Bill Cherry's Galveston Memories (VanJus Publishing - 2000) has sold thousands. Used copies regularly sell for more than twice the cover price. New copies horded by distributors, when available, bring $500 - $975 each.
