Patricia Hegarty was born in southern Ireland. She has lived in Ontario for the past twenty-seven years and feels she has a foot in both Canada and Ireland. She started writing about three years ago. This is her first novel She frequents her local YMCA where she is an avid member of the Aquafit group. Some of her passions include her Golden Retriever, family and friends, spending time with fellow writers, reading and travelling.
Liam, a young boy grows up in Connemara at the time of the Great Famine, 1840's. He and his family suffer great deprivation and want. The land is held by the English. Love and marriage promise happiness. Risking deportation or being shot, he poaches game and steals to keep his family alive. The potato blight removes any hope of survival. Emigration and the New World beckon him.
