Paul Michael Crips
Paul Crips' family owned and operated the 53 Bar Ranch, near Cody, Wyoming. He retired from teaching Industrial Arts and Science in Cheyenne, Wyoming, after 36 years. During his career he was honored with various awards, including The Milken Family Foundation Teacher Award and the Wyoming Arch Coal Teacher of Wyoming. He added, "The best reward is knowing hundreds of young cowgirls and cowboys."

The Wilson brothers grow up fast when their father is killed in a freak spring thunderstorm. They take on men's duties, including protecting their cattle grazing in the Wyoming highlands from a marauding grizzly bear. The fictionalized tales of Boulder Creek Rendezvous are written as told by the author's father and depict hardships and joys of ranching in Wyoming during the late 1930's.
