What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
To me, writing is freedom of expression, and the sharing of that expression with others. You can directly take your thoughts, ideas, opinions, or fantasies, and translate them into a medium where other people are able to envision in their own minds the story or message you wanted to convey. Knowing that each reader has his or her own unique interpretation of the same sequences of words on a page is exciting, because it means dozens of different "versions" of the thing you created using just your words are able to exist. The biggest joy for me however, is simply knowing that someone else took pleasure from the reading experience.
What do your fans mean to you?
Fans are half the point of any artistic creative engagement, in my opinion! To me, I can write until my hands fall off, and it can be satisfying all on its own, even if nobody ever reads any of it. But knowing there are folks out there who have taken the time to engage with something I've created, and have gotten some inspiration or pleasure or enjoyment out of it, brings me even more joy than just writing for writing's sake! It's very inspiring to see and hear others speak passionately of something they enjoy, and when that happens to be something you've created, it feels very humbling and awe inspiring.
