Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I started writing children’s books last year when I realized there was a need for interactive books to educate children and parents about anesthesia.
What's the story behind your latest book?
This book is the first in the Nap with a Nurse Anesthetist series. Evan (character based on my son) had been having recurrent ear infections requiring bilateral myringotomy tube (ear tubes) placement. The story encompasses the key components of perioperative process helping parents and children to identify with what to expect on their day of surgery through an adventure. As a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist/Anesthesiologist (CRNA), I have developed these stories based on my experiences and techniques utilized in the operating room. I’m hoping to reduce parents and children’s anxiety by empowering them with a basic knowledge of what to expect on their day of surgery.
