Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I first started writing short mystery stories when I was in the third grade. I had read all the Nancy Drew mystery books and was so impressed that I decided to write my own stories. After a fifth grade school teacher who happened to be a family friend read them, she kindly recommended that I rewrite all three of them. I was so discouraged I stopped writing, but the seed was already planted in my head and many years later I wrote my first book.
What do you read for pleasure?
All genres as long as they are interesting and well written. However, I am partial to historical novels, probably because I was a poor history student. This way I learn about history and I'm entertained at the same time. I wrote a historical novel and spent many hours researching to get my facts straight, so I appreciate the work involved.
