Kristen Holt

Biography

Kristen Holt has been writing stories since the dawn of time, and her stories run the gamut of genres and subjects. From snarky detectives, to witches and vampires, to a suicidal pencil, and even a worm named Norman. She wakes up with a different song in her head every morning, loves bacon and cupcakes (together, and separately), brunch with her girlies, and is a bird nerd. She has never seen Thelma & Louise or The Notebook, has never watched an episode of Doctor Who or Sex in the City, but can recite almost all of Beetlejuice. She lives in Seattle with her husband.

Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Los Alamos, NM, which is a very strange place. I remember hearing very large explosions on occasion, and wondering 'What the hell?', and there were and still are armed guard towers surrounding some areas of the National Laboratory. And yet, it is still the kind of place that is safe to walk around at three o'clock in the morning, or not worry about locking your car or your house at night. There wasn't a lot to do as a teenager, so I spent a lot of time out walking around the mountains or canyons, thinking and daydreaming. Consequently, my own internal narrative is a strange one.
When did you first start writing?
I'm not sure exactly, but I was very young. My mom still has some of the stories that I wrote.
