Mix Hart’s pursuits lie at the intersection of storytelling, fine art and new media. Currently based in British Columbia, she has lived all across Canada from the Pacific to the Atlantic Coasts including the Yukon as well as in London, UK. She credits her childhood connection to nature (her parents gave her the freedom to run wild through the forests of British Columbia and across prairie fields) with fostering her creativity and sense of adventure.
Mix writes novels (soon to be released Queen of the Godforsaken), the Peter-Not Pizzaface junior fiction series, picture books (soon to be released A Pug Named Pru), online adcopy and freelance articles. Topics and themes of her work include adventure, fantasy, feminism, humour, parenting, mindfulness and media.
Mix is a traditional oil painter specializing in realism and portraiture on canvas. In addition, she is a digital oil painter. A peek at some of her art work can be seen in the Peter Not-Pizzaface series and A Pug Named Pru picture books.
Mix’s love of the arts began in Toronto while studying Fashion Design at George Brown College. She continued her studies, obtaining a Bachelor of Education degree at the University of Saskatchewan in English and Art. She then went on to receive a Master of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia; her thesis examined online multi-authored and multimedia story telling. She presented her research at the 6th International Conference on e-Learning. She also studied Freelance Journalism at UBC.
Mix is the devoted mother to three amazing daughters, two dogs and partner to a great man. When she has free time you’ll find her outside in nature, running on mountain trails, skiing down slopes, or dancing to Latin music and generally just seeking adventure around the globe.
