Rachael Preston

Biography

Rachael Preston is the author of three novels: Tent of Blue (2002), and The Wind Seller (2006), both published by Goose Lane Editions, and The Fishers of Paradise (2012), available as an ebook only. A native of Yorkshire, England, Rachael earned a Master's degree in English Literature from Queen's University. She also studied at Emily Carr College in Vancouver. She has taught English in Tokyo, London, Vancouver and the Czech Republic, and creative writing in Ontario colleges and universities. For two years she chaired gritLIT, Hamilton's Writers' Festival.

In 2001 Rachael won the Arts Hamilton Literary Award and was nominated for the Journey Prize. In 2006 she won the City of Hamilton Arts Award for The Wind Seller and contribution to the arts. Rachael now lives in B.C. on Saturna Island, the southernmost of the gulf islands.
