  • Avenging Lance (A Warrior's Redemption 3) on Feb. 03, 2021

4.25 Stars This is by far the best book of the series and I really enjoyed how the author brought everything together. The first two books while telling their own parts of the tale set up this one for the final showdown. I’ve really enjoyed Lance’s growth throughout the series, he has gone from being quite childlike to a man protecting his family. Parts of this book were pretty brutal and Lance’s past is no exception. It was lovely seeing Lance connect with his people and the family that he and Gust were making. Gust came into his own for me as the heart of the warrior in this one, his character has also evolved during the series and during their trek across the countries he has done what was required to keep them safe all the while keeping to his values as a healer. I enjoyed the mythology in this one and how that was used in the final showdown Very good series and well worth the read
  • Healing Lance (A Warrior's Redemption 1) on Feb. 03, 2021

Thank you very much to my Secret Santa - Neha 3.75 Stars I really enjoyed this one. Good start to the series I loved the set up for this one with Lance the killing machine, starting to care about people after a baby laughed at him. After the life he had been subjected to since being found by the Warlord he amazingly had a real childlike quality in his fascination with everyday things that he had never been subjected to. He was still a highly trained killing machine that no matter what was happening and could turn it on if required but he now took great joy in the little things. I liked Gust too but not to the same extent. I liked that he stuck with Lance when it would have been really easy to just walk away. I did pick where it was going when it mention that his parents were killed at another town. There was a lot of work done by the author setting up the mythological aspect of this story with the gods and goddesses, I found the explanations of who was who bogged down the story at times, and to be honest I got a bit lost as to who was who. I'm very much looking forward to seeing where the author takes this one as I really want to know more about Lances childhood before meeting the warlord.
  • Forgiving Lance (A Warrior's Redemption 2) on Feb. 03, 2021

3.75 Stars Good follow up to the previous book. I really liked Lance in this book and Gust grew on me more. In this one the political intrigue is ramped up with all the players being moved around the board by the puppet master. A character that I really don't like (shocking considering he is the bad guy but the guy just annoys me). I feel for Lance because no matter what he does he is being used or the want to use him is there. He was been made a weapon as a child and now everyone wants to control him. He's never had the chance to decide for himself what he wants to do. I'd like to see him create his own destiny and do what he wants but that's not how its going to go. I liked that the secret is now out in the open and I actually liked how that came about. I think it was a great move having Lance face some of his victims and hear their tales. The surprise guest here was very welcome and nice touch. Its nice to see some strong female characters in this series although I must say some of them are brutal and vicious
  • Ben's Bakery and the Hanukkah Miracle on Feb. 03, 2021
    (no rating)
3.25 stars Good story centring around the eight nights of Hanukkah. I loved Ben and his desire to celebrate his festive holiday through his bakery and hold off supplying Christmas themed goods until after Hanukkah. He was sweet and I liked his back story and also the way he was with the kids. Adam did everything in his power to be unlikeable. Every time I started liking h8m as a character he did something that made me dislike him again. Ben deserved better in my opinion. He was such a religious snob, which surprised me when his father was so accepting of other religions.

  • What Lies Beneath on Feb. 18, 2021

Thank you to my secret Santa. Neha 3.75 Stars This one took a little bit for me to get into. I'm glad I persisted as it ended up being worth while. Sawyer at the start wasn't really a likeable character to me, he was quite moody and Chris' upbeat personality was a good counter point to him. Once he was in with Chris he lightened up and we were more able to see the man underneath. Both characters had their own demons and other than Sawyer's nightmares they weren't dwelled on. The story just moved forward. I enjoyed the mystery aspect and I'm glad it's not finished and will carry over the next two books (at least I have started this when all books are complete so I don't have to wait). I have ideas of people I think are somehow involved and I can't wait to see if I'm right or totally off base.
  • Sons of Rome on Feb. 18, 2021

Thank you Boggartbub 3.75 Stars My knowledge of the Roman Legions is restricted to what I learnt at high school and high school was a long time ago, so with that basic knowledge I’m unsure if this is historically anywhere near a factual look at life as a Roman Legionnaire but it was highly entertaining. It started slow but was rich in descriptions of the lives the guys were living that it kept my interest and then by the time they were on the march I was totally captivated and lost track of time. The life of a roman warrior was a hard one with them being conscripted for 20 years’ service to the legion. Drusus’ dilemma that developed here was totally understandable to me. 3 years away from being able to leave the legion his younger brother and friend are conscripted and sent to his century. Now instead of just finishing his time, he now wants to ensure the two younger members survive their conscriptions. The brothers do hit it off quickly and the brotherly bond is there from the start, which I did find a little bit strange as they went straight back to being brothers even though Drusus had not seen Cal since he was 4 years old. He didn’t actually know Cal and I’m sure Drusus had changed over the 17 years absence, but regardless the brothers connected and fought together to stay alive. Caius is the character I wish I knew more about. Even though he was one of the MC’s I don’t feel like we really knew anything about him other than he was a farmer and he loved Drusus The fight to survive from the crew was well written and kept me in the story.
  • The Musician and the Monster on Feb. 18, 2021

Thank you Bogartbub 4 Stars Very Enjoyable retelling of Beauty and the beast I enjoyed Angel as the narrator. He did fluctuate for me at the beginning between me feeling sorry for him as he was stuck in a situation that he didn’t create, and being annoyed at him as he wasn’t really trying to get to know Oberon at all. I’m not sure how he expected to go for the whole 4 years if he wasn’t prepared to make an effort. When he did start it was lovely seeing them bond over their shared interest in music. I enjoyed getting to know Oberon through the eyes of Angel. I felt sorry for him in his loneliness and the fact that while he had a friendly relationship amongst the people working for him but at the same time none of them were prepared or too scared of him to touch him even in a platonic way, which would have been hard for a being that depends on touch. I also enjoyed that even as we got to know him his differences were not just swept under the carpet and ignored they were just incorporated into the being we knew as Oberon. Enjoyable read
  • I'll Be Your Drill, Soldier! on Feb. 18, 2021

4.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed that the story follows the boys from basic where they form the friendships that last through the whole book. I loved that they were there for each other through thick and thin. The emails that connected them during the 5 years was well done, they kept the reader up to date and also moved the story along. Phillip and Ryan’s waltz around each other was enjoyable to read. You can feel that they will last. The family and secondary characters were all well done. I loved the banter and how hard Phillip and the other drills were on the guys in basic, to make them a better solider. The feelings when the group got hit by tragedy was hard to read. You felt everyone’s desperation and helplessness, especially the ones deployed or stationed away from the group. Well worth the read.
  • Green Tea and Pink Apples on Feb. 18, 2021

3.75 ⭐️ Enjoyable short. I liked Matt and Santi and their path to getting through to each other. I didn’t really understand Matt’s family and their need to pick on him, but I enjoyed that Santi was protective. I liked that Matt’s dreams were achievable and quite simple.
  • Irises in the Snow on Feb. 18, 2021

Thank you Sugar plum Santa 🎅 3.75 *⭐️ I enjoyed this one but I wanted it to be longer. I felt for Justin and understood his need to keep the family business running, even when doing so meant giving up on his dreams. He had moments of bitterness that made his character very realistic and at the same time made it harder for him to connect with Elliot. I found Elliot harder to connect with, but that was because he never gave the full story and as we were in Justin's head we only saw what he saw. I did like them together when they got there but wanted more from that time. I loved the ending, it was the solution I was thinking about while reading so it worked well. The secondary characters we well done, I enjoyed Justin's families (especially his mum's) good intentioned meddling.
  • Changes Coming Down on Feb. 18, 2021

Thank you Sugar Plum Santa 4 stars ⭐️ What a great story, but going in I expected good things as as Kaje knows how to write and entertaining story. I enjoy poly books and this was well handled. As the guys were already established I was a little bit worried because I enjoy the whole getting together aspect and to see them dealing with becoming a threesome. I didn’t feel cheated here. We slotted straight into the guys lives and yes I would enjoy seeing more from them getting to know each other but it worked for the story line and I didn’t feel like I was missing a book. The story of the ranch and how each had to come to terms with either coming out or staying in the closet worked. It could have gone a different way and at times I was expecting it to but was happily surprised that she didn’t take that way. Looking forward to the next book that will be an auto read
  • Brothers Of The Wild North Sea on Feb. 18, 2021

Thank you Disorganized Bibliophile for one of the best books I've read. 5 Stars This is how you do an enemies to lovers story properly. After suffering a brutal attack on the monastery he lives in, Caius a celt and Christian Monk teaches his fellow brethren how to fight and protect themselves from the raiding vikings. After another brutal raid Caius finds viking wounded on the shore and his compassion takes over and he brings Fen back to the monastery to treat his wounds. What comes next is a fantastic tale which shows the growth of the two main characters from mortal enemies to lovers and then on to leaders regardless of how much they don't want to be (Caius). The growth is not only from the main characters. The brothers at the monastery go from hating Fen and refusing to have anything to do with him, to slowly getting to know him and then accepting him as just brother Fen. Caius' father learns to communicate with this his first born. All of the secondary characters are well presented and each have their own personality, making it easy to care about them. I can't wait to sit back and reread this one, maybe even give it a go on audio as friends have recommended the audible version
  • Without a Trace on Feb. 24, 2021

Thank you KreacherTheFlamingNorthPoleDancingElf for this book 4 stars This was going to be a solid 3.5 stars up until the last 10-15% where it kicked up a notch and that ending - cruel. Thankfully I have the next one ready to go. I'm enjoying the continued storyline with the bones and also the fact that each book while continuing on the storyline centers around a new couple. It is unique in the fact that it is one of the only series I can remember that I have either disliked or didn't connect with one of the MC's in each book and it seems to always be the Lancaster Falls guys, last one was Sawyer that took a while for me to connect to and in this one it was Drew who I actually didn't like. I understood his issues and need to find out what happened to his brother but he showed no respect for either Sawyer or Logan by continually ignoring them and the job they were doing. I liked Logan in the previous book and this one was no exception. I liked the funny little tidbits especially the local grannies cooking for him and trying to set him up with their family members. The continuation of the mystery of the bones was well done. Two of my contenders have shown themselves out and confirmed by suspicions only 3 more to go. I really want to know what happened to Adam, He was only on the page for a little while, but him I did connect to.
  • Thrown Off the Ice on March 27, 2021

4.5 stars Thank you BogartBub for the book I knew it was coming and I think that’s why I held off reading this one, but it seriously broke my heart for the last 10%. The last chapter was one of the hardest chapters I’ve ever read and it also took me the longest as I had to keep stopping to reset myself to continue. That being said, even though it’s still early in the year it will go down as one of the best books I’ve read this year. The narration style took me a little to get into and then all of sudden I was well and truly hooked. I enjoyed that it took us through the lives of the guys and wasn’t restricted to one time. Told from Mike’s perspective, we get to see the relationship progress from hook up to relationship, even if Mike refused to define it as such. He did the hard thing and did try and protect Liam from himself. He set him free numerous times in an attempt for him to get something better, to help his career when it was evident that Liam would stay. It was clumsy the way Mike did it but also so very him. I can’t believe he never actually told Liam he loved him and that doesn’t sit well with me. I loved Liam. He was so full of life and you could see what attracted Mike to him. The fact that he stayed throughout Mike’s illness shows that deep metal of his personality as it’s hard to be a career for someone you love. I would have loved to have seen a bit more from his side especially what attracted him at the start to gruff enforcer but at the same time it was more powerful the little bit that was from his perspective. I know I will read this again at some point and I look forward to seeing all the little things that you pick up on a second read, but I think that will be a bit further down the line. Taylor Fitzpatrick you have a new fan
  • The Dragon's Tale on March 27, 2021

Thank you Princess Consuela for the gift 3.75 stars I enjoyed this one more than the previous installment. I really like Lance. He is pragmatic and understands that the relationship between him and Art is not going to be the same as it was previously. He understand the constraints of his position and also what needs to be done to help Arthur in his quest to be king. I kind of feel like he is getting the short end of the stick in some ways as he is the one either finding or being given the gifts of power and then he is doing the loyal thing and giving them to Arthur as per Merlin's predictions . He was given Excalibur in the first book and in this one he was the one who unearthed Guen, and I really feel like the dragon would have been happier with him. He has some connection with the dragons and I hope it comes out in the next installment. Looking forward to starting the next installment and seeing if my musings are in some form correct or if I'm just looking at it all wrong (definite possibility)
  • Driftwood on March 27, 2021

Thank you my Secret Santa Neha 3.75 Stars I enjoyed this one. Both guys were deeply damaged and basically just surviving on their own. Tom had a really abrupt way about him at times and when his rage came about he could be quite rude as the rage took over. This should have made him an unlikeable characters but his ability to know that it was happening and some of the coping mechanisms he employed made him relatable to me. The coping mechanisms didn't always work and he sometimes relapsed and went on benders but the personal honesty of him knowing this and working to try and hold it off worked for me. Flynn was a harder character for me to connect with and I think that is because we never really got into his head and only saw him through Tom's eyes. I love the setting of the Cornish countryside. These types of books made me visit Cornwell last time I was in England and I loved it. Ms. Fox has a talent of making the place come to life and making me feel as if I was there with the characters I enjoyed the back and forth between the characters as they navigated getting to know each other and the outside forces that were hindering them. I did feel that it lost its way at the end, as it took on an over the top plot twist that took two damaged men working through their issues to an unrealistic fight for survival. I don't read for realism but the actions of these characters was just not plausible at all. Still an enjoyable read
  • To Hold a Hidden Pearl on March 07, 2022

4 Stars Thank you Very Secret Santa When I requested this one, I really wanted to read the second book and I always like to read a series in order, so I requested this one too. I'm so glad I did and that my secret Santa was awesome enough to gift it to me. This one hooked me early and I couldn't wait to see where it would lead. I loved Lucien and his quirky personality. He was so interesting to me. I enjoyed that Jay named his different personality traits and interacted with each one differently, never making him feel different or weird. Jay was a great character. The way he was so true to himself. He did the right thing by his fiancée and I thought it was well done that he didn't come right and say why. Probably not the fairest to Ellie but at the same time, he wasn't ready to come out and that is a choice everyone should get to make for themselves. I can't wait to continue on with this series

  • To Catch a Fallen Leaf on March 13, 2022

4 stars Thank you to my superstar secret Santa for this gem. I enjoyed this one. I loved Reuben and Freddie together. The way their relationship moved from friendship to more was well done. Both had their own pasts and Reuben was forthcoming with his. I did like the way Freddie handled that, as he really didn't care if he was told or not, it didn't change the way he felt about Reuben. I also think Freddie should have been more open about his past, but unfortunately what he saw as unimportant created issues within the relationship. I liked the camaraderie between the gardening crew. They took in Freddie and although they could tease each other and have fun together but when the chips were down they stuck up for Reuben as one of their own. I liked the use of emails and letters at the start of each chapter as it gave us an insight into the friendships and family relationships that wouldn't have been seen. Freddie's dad annoyed me throughout the story, he did finally open his eyes and see his son but it was nearly too late. I'd love to listen to this one on audio and get the full appreciation for Reuben's French accent On to the next one
  • To Take a Quiet Breath on March 16, 2022

4.25 Stars This is my favourite book so far in this series. I loved Marcel Guillaume both together and separately. The banter between the two, especially early when they first met was fabulous. I enjoyed that Guillaume never once complained about his sentence. He owned what he did and took the punishment. I also liked that Marcel never once talked down to him, he was treated as an equal from the very start. The friendship that blossomed was entertaining to read. Marcel's illness was also done well. I don't know a lot about it, but it felt well handled to me. The fact that people got up in his life he accepted and while it frustrated me and him at times, he handled it with class. the secondary characters were all great, I especially liked Dominic and was very happy for him when he found someone that could actually see him. Great series

3.5 Stars Nice addition to the series. I enjoyed who Charles was matched up with and the fact that they were intellectually well matched. They could converse for hours even though they had differing political views I feel like we missed a bit at the end, as I wanted more, to see where the relationship lead once Charles returned to London. Great series

  • Attracting Anthony on March 20, 2022

3 Stars Not a bad start to the series, but I would have liked it to be longer. Due to the length the story was fast paced the whole way through and things were glossed over or just ignored. I would have liked to explore Anthony's character a bit more. At times he was confident and then he turned to being unsure. He was happy being mated and wearing a collar but baulked at moving into together. He has an interesting heritage that could have been explored more, What did Silver make of it? maybe it will be in the following books.
  • Keeping Kylen on March 27, 2022

Thank you to my secret Santa - Midniteillusion 3.75 Stars To me this was the best of the series so far. It concentrated on one couple and we got to see them work out their differences in a way that worked for both of them. Kylen acted in with the best interest of his people when he made he decision to be king, but that decision wasn't the in the best interest of his mating as both of the guys were hurting from being apart and it was interesting to see how they resolved this. Both needs were taken into account and I was happy with the resolution. We also have the introduction of the dragons. Hopefully they are here more now.
  • Loving Leif on March 27, 2022

Thank you Santa's Naughty Hottie 4 Stars This series has finally hit its groove as the last two books have been the best so far. Maybe because we have moved away from the Anthony and Silver show and the series arc is now taking centre stage, with each book focusing on the mating pair/group and their contribution to helping the pack with their common enemy. I liked all the MC's in this one, they each had their own personalities than shown through. I did feel for Blake a little as he seemed to be the one pushing for the mating with Leif and then had to share him with Rhaegar. The three of them worked well together but I can see they will have some teething problems with working out the dynamics. I did find it interesting the way the author worked the dragon mating. it was a conundrum that took a lot of faith especially considering that Leif and Blake were not sure if Rhaegar was their mate. I will admit to still being a little confused as to why Leif didn't recognise Blake as his mate from the start once he was turned back from being a mutant. I enjoyed that Blake's primary concern is to make up for what he did and to help other mutants Looking forward to seeing where this now leads
  • Marking Mikel on March 29, 2022

Thank you Midniteillusion 3.5 Stars It was enjoyable returning to Mikel and Inno and seeing how they were getting along. It was nice to see that things were not automatically rosy just because they were mates, they still needed to communicate with each other and the fact that neither of them was talking and telling the other what they needed added to the problems. I'll be interested to see where the new big bad is going as it looks like Anthony is back front and centre.
  • Needing Noel on March 30, 2022

Thank you Midniteillusion 3.75 Stars I think I like this series more now when we are in the fae world as the whole Anthony and Silver saga is not as prevalent. They still made an appearance to the end but they’re not hijacking the story as in some of the previous books. I keep saying I want these books to be longer and this one is no exception. This one had the best storyline that would have benefited greatly from being extended and more time taken to work through the plot. I really liked Noel and felt for him for his past. It was nice to see he was honest with himself at least and knew when he had made a mistake and tried to make it better for Hart. He also understood and accepted that his first mate had his faults but still loved him anyway Hart was a treasure and a lovely character to read. I felt for him with his disappointment at the beginning but he never gave up and gave Noel space when he needed it. I want to know what happened to all the kids at the end maybe that will come out in the next books
  • Owning Oliver on April 01, 2022

Thank you Midniteillusion 3 stars Ok here’s the go, I been saying I wanted a longer book and we got it here, but the story was again hijacked by Anthony and Silver. I wish the author would just give them their own second book instead of inserting their story into other couples books. I liked Oliver but I don’t feel like I know the other two at all. I wanted more time with them and their problems getting used to their triad. Aslin has a nice power but that was all that was said about it, it wasn’t really expanded at all and what about Tim, he is portrayed here as a submissive wolf but that was not really explored. I hope we return to the fae world soon.
  • Apartment 14 and the Devil Next Door on April 21, 2022

Thank you Midniteillusion 3.75 stars This is a good follow up to the first book, it was longer o had more of a chance at a better storyline. I liked Joshua more here and how he was so unsure of himself. I also liked Rad, he was free spirited u not so out there that he was unrealistic Good short follow up
  • With Everything I Have on April 22, 2022

Thank you Santa's Naughty Hottie 3.75 stars I enjoyed this one. I'm a fan of this authors work and while both guys are interested in each other there is no usual miscommunication or big silence that would solve the issue that the author generally uses so the guys felt like they got together a bit easier than we normally get. I liked Peter and felt for him. He was obviously deeply uncomfortable around a lot of people and his friendship with Sebastian was nice to read. I would have liked to have seen it from his POV just to get an idea of what he was actually thinking. He was the one who in the end put himself out there to move the relationship along but I also think he had to be. I probably would have liked Sebastian to push him a little more, but their friendship was sweet.
  • Smokey on April 24, 2022

Thank you Nik 3 Stars I'm not really sure how to rate this one. I went into it thinking it was basically erotic and not to expect much in the way of a storyline, and sometimes that works well for me. But this one the MC club annoyed me. I liked Ava and I felt for her at the start when she was trying pretty hard to get the MC on side and they weren't giving her a chance. I liked that she wasn't a door mat for the majority of the book. She stood her ground and tried to walk away. I don't get the part where she wanted to sell up and had to wait for someone to buy her property. It was said a number of times that she was independently wealthy and could of just moved and left the property to sell when they had a buyer. I disliked Smokey to be honest. He didn't really engage me at the start and after the low blow he dealt Ava 1/2 way through the book I was done not a fan. He did continually apologise and grovel (as he should) but he should have walked away. He dealt her a verbal blow knowing full well her history and then let the club girls beat her. Wow what's he going to do next time? His grovelling did redeem him a little bit but not fully. The club also annoyed me. They never gave her a chance and then when they decided they had made a mistake and ruined everything she had, then they wanted to be her friend and kept up with the guilty looks because she wouldn't accommodate them. At least she stood her ground here. The first part I liked, it was just the second half that I had trouble with. I did like Ugly and maybe one day I'll go back and ready his book
  • Winter (Rise of the Pride, Book 2) on April 24, 2022

3.5 Stars Thank you Midniteillusion At the start I was a bit unsure of this one and it took me a little to get used to the authors voice, and to be honest I really should have read the first one before starting this one as this one picks up after the end of the first book and happenings are continually referenced, so that was my bad. Once I got over that and was in the story, it was quite enjoyable. I liked Winter but also found him frustrating at times. I understood why he didn't want to change Nova but he had to understand that he was leaving her at a disadvantage. I liked Nova and the fact that she wasn't ever scared of Winter and stood up to him all the time. She wasn't someone that constantly needed saving, she was capable to looking after herself. Not a bad series that I will continue on with.
  • Soul Deep on May 07, 2022

Thank you Midniteillusion 3.75 stars I think that this one is the best of the series so far. It was a slower burn than the other ones. I really liked Haures even though he was kind of tame for a demon (actually they all kind of are). He was so patient with Uriel and even when Uriel did something that displeased him and put him in danger, he still kept his patience and discussed what was wrong about Uriel's actions. I actually liked Uriel in this one. He made up for this actions in the first book. He did try and do the right thing and tried to help the artists. I understood his stance here and was glad that he got to do everything he could to try and help Seth. Looking forward to continuing the series
  • A Little Blessing on Jan. 07, 2023

4.25 Stars Its taken me a bit to get going this year as I just couldn't find the motivation to start reading, so to break the slump I took to a book that I was majorly excited about when I heard it was coming out last year. I've held off reading it to savour it. and it didn't disappoint. Every one of these books I read and I think "this is my favourite couple" and if I had to choose I'd say Chester and Will are but Lucas and Robin I think will definitely fight for the top spot on the reread. The communication issues worked in this one as Robin was so sick and needed to be able to hear and understand. While he was sick and so tired he didn't have the capacity to even imagine it, so he needs the healing to begin before anything could happen. It's a slow burn as we get to know the guys as they get to know each other again, with the help of a couple of ravens and meddling families both here and from the afterlife. I enjoyed that the coven is being called out in this one. They definitely let Chester down, and it was nice to see someone actually see that, but they also let down all the Mc's in this series. They are as Robin points out, dependant on these powerful witches but at the same time leave them to their own devices regardless of how much pain they're in and are kind scared of them to a degree. It's good to see someone actually starting to call them on it. Can't wait to reread this one and pick up the little bits and pieces I've missed on this read.

Thanks Bixby Twinkleton 4 Stars I enjoyed this one more than the first one. The relationship has progressed and it's nice to see that Cal has come out and is happy to be with Sebastian out in the open. I also liked that Cal tried to keep Sebastian out of the case. Sebastian himself kept putting himself in harms way, without telling Cal beforehand just getting him to provide back up when things turned pear shaped. The case was interesting and I didn't pick the killer in this one.

3.5 Stars Thanks Ivy Twinkletush I did like this one but felt that it suffered for the length of it. I still feel as though I have missed a connection with another story or stories somewhere as a lot of things are mentioned and happened off page but here are just brushed over or mentioned in passing. I liked the addition of Prince Tevra and the connection between the three guys. I am still confused as to why Prince Tevra's father was so ruthless in his attempts to start war, what started it and what exactly happened at the end. Najlah is very entertaining to me, the way his thought processes are amuses me. HIs interactions with both Barkus and Terra as they all get to know each other is well done. The family aspect was also very well done here.

3.75 stars This book consists of 4 interconnecting stories. The first one was the slowest and hardest but it had to set the world and the subsequent stories furthered the world building and friendship group. Hollowick and Fen's story actually annoyed me a bit. I understood he was hurting and took off but I couldn't believe Hollowick would leave his sister there when they were both accused of lying to the king. My favourite was Lyra and Wenwicks story. My heart went out to Lyra and what he went through as a child. The way he protected Amanda was lovely. I loved Toki and his dragon. when he was in the wrong he took it on board. Roswick was a great partner for him. When they both got out of their heads and understood the other was interested they were a great pair. Creawick was an interesting character. Even seeing him through Elawick's eyes and knowing his back story he still came across rude and abrasive. I did enjoy the glimpses of real Creawick when he made an appearance.

Thanks KreacherTheFlamingNorthPoleDancingElf 3.75 Stars I enjoyed this one I understood Trevor’s stance here. He didn’t want to start something with someone while he was so sick. He felt it wouldn’t be fair to his partner for them to start something and then watch him die. This I could agree with. I didn’t feel like he did the right thing when he left Marc with just a letter but again understood as he would have struggled to stay his course. I liked Marc and felt for him. His mother had created this need to prove himself and in his drive to become partner of the firm he shut himself off from all of the others trying to be friends with him. He isolated himself, so the good thing to come of his meeting Trevor and wanting to help him was that he opened himself up to the friendships on offer and actually found the friends he wanted and needed in his life. I ending worked for me. The way it was resolved was well done. I thought it would go one way but then it went another that was better. Good afternoon’s read
