Robert Allen

As an English teacher, I take great satisfaction in guiding teens through a variety of stories because, through story, people of all ages can experience new worlds and are then able to think deeply about their own lives, reflect, learn, and grow. In addition, I believe there is much to learn about life through sports. Most people do appreciate and respect a level playing field, hard work, and the underdog.

Fifteen-year-old Marvin is a social outcast, an orphan, and a rebel. He lives in Mr. O's junkyard in the town of Upper Squares, where the rich get richer, the power-hungry get more powerful, and laws are written to get rid of the poor and needy for good. But Marvin has had enough. With help from his friends he intends to change things, starting with playing on an elite little league baseball team.
