Robin Storey

I'm a former freelance writer turned author and have written two novels so far - comedy crime How Not to Commit Murder, which is free as an e-book on Smashwords and Amazon, and romantic comedy Perfect Sex, also available on Smashwords and Amazon. Writing comedy comes naturally to me and I intend to write many more novels and explore different comedy genres.

I've also published an e-book of comedy short stories Comedy Shorts, available on Amazon, but you can get a free copy if you subscribe to my blog Storey-Lines, where I share with you the humorous and quirky aspects of being a 'mature age' indie author.

I'm an Aussie and live on the picturesque Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia, where we complain bitterly and rug up if it gets below 10 degrees Celsius. I love hiking and travelling and will be combining both interests when my partner and I do the Camino Frances pilgrimage across northern Spain in 2016.

I have no unusual hobbies or strange pets.

Smashwords Interview

What is your writing process?
I'm in between a pantser (plotting as you go) and a planner. I don't need to have the story plotted out scene by scene, but I like to have an overall roadmap of where I'm heading and how I'm going to get there. I've found Story Engineering by Larry Brooks very helpful for this.
Do you remember the first story you ever read, and the impact it had on you?
I don't remember the first story I ever read, but I was a compulsive reader as a child. Curled up in a chair engrossed in a book was my favourite activity. (still is!) I devoured all of Enid Blyton's adventure books - Secret Seven etc - the Bobbsey Twins and classics such as the Narnia books by CS Lewis, pretty much anything that took me into an entirely different world. When I was ten, I won a prize in a writing competition - 25 paperback books that I could choose myself from a catalogue. I poured over it for days - I was in heaven!
