I read somewhere that most YA is written at third grade level, although the intended audience has long surpassed that age. I was very frustrated when I hit my teens because I felt like I was a demographic that was forgotten about; I could either read the 3rd grade level books or move on to adult books about 30 year old divorcees. These stories can at times be interesting (i.e "Eat, Pray, Love") but I certainly can't relate to them. I also like Rainbow Powell, Suzanne Collins, Stephen Chbosky, Jennifer Shaw Wolf...
