  • Few Are Chosen, K'Barthan Series: Part 1 on Dec. 18, 2014

I had no idea what to expect with this book, so it came as a wonderful surprise when I started reading to find it was funny, clever, thoughtful and imaginative. It combines adventure with a little fantasy, a dash of sci-fi (not too much), a hint of romance (only a hint), flying, submersible cars, a strong plot, and great characters. It's good to find an author who writes well, and with a refreshingly different type of book. Few Are Chosen is the first in the K'Barthan series, and I highly recommend it. It certainly deserves the awards it has won from Awesome Indies, IndiePENdents, and Wishing Well.

Readers of the K'Barthan series will enjoy this short prequel which introduces three of the main characters and relates how they first met. As usual, The Pan manages to make a mess of things. Even in this short story, the author manages to combine humour, strong characters and action. Or, for anyone who hasn't read her other books, it provides an intriguing insight into the series, leaving you wanting more.
