Born and raised in Nashville TN, I was unaware of caregiving as a profession. I only knew that I wanted to take care of my grandmother like she had cared for both of her parents. And so I did, alongside my mother for about ten years leading up to her death in 2005. I learned alot about life and love through my experiences concerning my grandmother. And her old fashioned sensibilities serve me well in life.
She wrote a little bit here and there, mainly autobiographical work. But my passion was music so songwriting became important to me early in life. As I grew up more I found the music business not as enjoyable as I had expected even though I had limited success with the promise of more to come. So I turned to caregiving for employment and I have found it both natural and rewarding. It continues to serve me well as a father so far also! Bonus! :)
What's the story behind your latest book?
I had a long battle with anxiety and didn't know it for most of those years. I sought counselling for depression and found out about my anxiety soon after. And as time goes by I find so many people in all walks of life dealing with it that I thought I should reach out to a broader audience after helping myself and others. I've had enough success personally that I gained the confidence to share in a more broader sense. They say write about what you know already... so I did!
What is your writing process?
Inspiration is always first, and it might be simple idea type things or big complex pictures of things in my head. Then it is research as I go, and I don't rush.
Written by an observant caregiver with years of experience. This is a must read for anyone living with an Anxiety disorder or knows someone who is. The author shares personal and professional experiences and successes in a simple to read vocabulary.
