What do you read for pleasure?
I will read anything that a friend recommends to me. That means I end up reading a lot of different genres. I love fantasy and sci-fi (of course), but I have also loved some general contemporary fiction like The Kite Runner and A Man Called Ove. I'm a high school English teacher, so I also end up reading a lot of "classics." My favorite of the books I get to teach are The Great Gatsby, A Raisin in the Sun, and The Scarlet Letter.
What is your e-reading device of choice?
I prefer a book that I can hold in my hands and turn the pages, but I love that I can read almost anything for so cheap on my iPad. I end up reading a lot of Kindle books and Wattpad on my iPad.
When a young orphan goes through a fairy circle on Halloween, she falls into the magical world of her bedtime stories to discover her father, the king. Too late she finds that she cannot return to her home world. Stuck in Avalon, Jade begins the training that will prepare her for her future role as Queen, but she much prefers adventuring to sitting in a classroom. When her adventures take her to the forbidden land, Lyonés, she discovers something she was never meant to find.
After the revelation that her father had lied to her, Jade can't look at him in the same way, and when the leaders of all neighboring areas come to stay, Jade's eyes are opened to the ways that the Royal world really works.
After a rash decision, Jade finds herself stuck in Avalon, the land of the fairies. Until now, Jade had lived as an orphan and an outcast. Now, she will find out what it's like to live as the daughter of the King and train to one day serve as the Queen.
