Jemmela in the Ruff
on March 10, 2017
This book is a girl-meets-boy story in the vampire vs werewolf genre. It's set near our reality so there is also the theme of hiding the magical world from the norms. This book is humorous, lacks harsh language and sexual content, but does have considerable physical and verbal violence. I don't have kids but I think it's appropriate for anyone YA and above. If you had a bad middle school experience, beware, this book will take you back!
The writing is good and equivalent to a printed book (sorry e-authors, I had a bad run in with a JD Robb issue a few books back and it hasn't worn off yet), clearly demonstrating that attention was paid to editing, word choice, and style. I particularly enjoy Jemmela's voice, but most of the characters are well developed. The world is well developed and I am eager to learn more about the author's take on magical predators and prey. I look forward to the next book in this series.
