Smashwords Interview

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a small town in Nova Scotia, Canada. It has had a huge influence on my writing because it is what is familiar to me and is therefore what I write about. My debut novel is set in a similar community in Nova Scotia, although the one in my book is by the sea. My fave thing about living in Nova Scotia is that no matter where you are you can always smell the trees or the ocean.
When did you first start writing?
I wrote my first story when I was twelve. It was about a group of crime fighting kids. I strayed from writing as a teen but found my way back to it after the birth of my two children. Writing helps me escape from reality and is essential for my sanity :-)
