I found this book extremely interesting. I've been interested in cryptography for a while, but this introduced a few new ciphers as well as refreshing my memory of the others. It gives a good explanation of not only how each cipher works, but also the history, pros and cons of each one. This is an ideal introduction for a beginner in this field. My only criticism is the slightly chatty writing style, but this is easy to get past if you read this book as a transcript of a short lecture rather than a written text.
