Shanlynn Walker lives in Kentucky with her two Doberman Pinschers. The inspiration for Sylas, the wraith-like dog from the Myste, came from her fawn Doberman, also named Sylas, and he is now a main character in her Dragons of Daegonlot series.
When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?
I spend a lot of time with my family. I have been married for over 10 years to my husband, and he is my best friend. I also have a teenage son and daughter, and we all know what it's like having teenagers around. My daughter is very into debate, so she's like having an argumentative teenager who is also really good at arguing, which is every parent's nightmare. But, it's great, I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm also quite the animal lover, so I spend a lot of time with my dogs as well.
How do you discover the ebooks you read?
Since I have become a published author myself, I get a lot of requests for book reviews, etc., from other indie authors. I seldom have to go out and find a book to read anymore, they just get emailed to me and I get to read them and leave a review, which I don't mind since it is helping other indie authors get some exposure. I have found reviews are the hardest part of being an author, they are really hard to get! I like to do my part to help as many others as I can, but I always remember to give an honest opinion. Undeserved flattery doesn't help us hone our craft, even if it is what we would like to hear.
Taking up where the first book ends, Dax, Drakthira, Trakon and Sylas enter the Myste to continue their quest and find a way to destroy the Dragon Orb created by Jessa Dragonheart. Once within its boundaries, Trakon is targeted by one of the powerful creatures that live in the abyss and is led astray while Daxon comes face to face with his true origins and the purpose for his existence.
Daegonlot: a floating island separated from the mainland of Darkenfel, and home to the last of the dragonriders. They have settled in the city of Goldenspine and allowed the rest of the world to forget them.
