Michael William Disney

Biography

I grew up on the edge of Sheffield, an industrial city, in the north of England, through the drab grey days of the postwar period, to the glamour and glitz of the exciting and hedonistic sixties. I never thought I would get to travel the world, yet, by the early seventies I had visited North Africa, Western Europe and Canada, where I made my first long distance journey - hitch-hiking the Trans-Canada highway from Vancouver to Montreal, a distance of almost 2,800 miles.

On leaving college, I worked in the steel industry before moving to marketing and then switching into telecommunications. Later, I began to teach English and moved to Madrid, a city I came to love and consider my second home. For many years, while travelling, I have been taking photographs, some of which I sell via a stock agency. Writing seems to be a natural progression, although I do not make any claims for myself other than what I write is what I have experienced.
