Sheila Golding

Biography

My name is Sheila Golding. I live in North Devon, England. I started writing twelve years ago. I like to write children's stories and humorous poetry. Several of these have been published.
I have a large family: six children, and now seven grandchildren. One of my grandsons has Autism, and this condition interests me a lot. We have always been extremely close.
I don't really have any hobbies unless chatting is included, I love to spend hours on the phone catching up with family.
We also have two lovable dogs; one’s a Springer and the other’s a white rescue dog. We aren't sure of his breed or exact age, but despite issues with fireworks, thunder and fast movement, he’s a brilliant guard dog who has settled well.

Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
Witch Island is the first in a series of six stories about Teeny Tiny Witch who lives on Witch Island. It is about how Teeny Tiny Witch wants to pass her exams but she's not very good with spells. Something goes wrong and the girl she changed into a frog stays that way. Sent home, her mother does her best to help her learn her spell casting and Teeny Tiny is determined to do it right next time.
The big day arrives and she has high hopes, but when she learns the head mistress will be her model, Teeny Tiny is very nervous. And when it goes wrong, and she is expelled, what will the Icy Witch Queen do?
What motivated you to become an indie author?
The freedom to make my story be the way i want it to be, and use an illustrator of my choosing. It's a business that's hard to break into using traditional publishers, especially without an agent. This was my best chance and I took it.
