Sonya Rhen is a writer of science fiction, adventure, comedy, mystery and poetry. When she is not writing or hanging out with her family, you might find her dancing.
When did you first start writing?
I always loved stories and my parents read to me often. I first started writing at about age six. My first story was about two lion cubs named Kit and Kat. I probably got the idea from the candy bar commercials. I even had illustrations.
What's the story behind your latest book?
My Shredded Orphans series came from a dream I had about a space ship crashing and the occupants having to travel across a desert to get help. At the time I had been watching a short lived TV show called Space Rangers.
I got the band name from a dyslexic moment when I read the movie schedule for the Neptune and misread "Shredder Orpheus". I always thought Shredded Orphans would be a good name for a band.
Many readers have noticed a similarity between my book and the Firefly TV series. Yes, I did enjoy that show and I guess it comes out in my book, "Space Tripping with the Shredded Orphans".
"Space Tripping with the Shredded Orphans" is an intergalactic "road" trip with the seismic rock band the Shredded Orphans. Travel with the Shredded Orphans as they encounter ex-advertising slaves, unknown fauna and over-exposure to the sun on this “road” trip of galactic proportions.
