Steve Schatz grew up in New Mexico, where an early visit to a pueblo ceremony allowed him to view a sacred ceremony not usually viewed by outsiders. Before the family was discovered and turned away, the vision was permanently seared into his being. Throughout his life, his path was always directed away from the mundane and toward the spirit, resulting in less than spectacular material success, as he was a retail manager, tour guide, party clown, software trainer, traveler, university professor, organizational consultant. However, his meetings with hawks and eagles and forests alive with new growth and sparkling with ice under a full moon, have shaped this journey. Belecha's Eye is his second novel, the first published via ebook. His middle grade novel, Sometimes She Rips Her Face Off is in final edits, loosely based on events in the rural western Massachusetts town of Becket where he lives.
