Stevie Mach

Biography

Yes, this is all about me… so where to begin? I am a Scottish writer, novels and short stories, some poetry sometimes, but certainly concentrating on novels at the moment.

I started writing in my teens, poetry and lyrics, was briefly in a band, wrote some songs, developed prose and wrote numerous short stories and a few novels. Somewhere along the way though, the writing was left behind.

Move on, twenty-odd years, to the latter part of my fourth decade on the planet, and the creative impulse has returned. This website then, and my publications, are my panacea for a lengthy bout of writing procrastination. I am writing new and exciting stuff also. It gives me a buzz to do so. It is great to be back in the fray again!

Stevie Mach is my pen name, or nom-de-plume, an abridged version of my real name, Stevie McConnachie. In my normal everyday life, I am a graphic designer, writer and blogger, I live and work in central Scotland, and muddle along, much as most people do.

Smashwords Interview

How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
Smashwords has been great. With the learning process itself, formatting, editing, proof reading, cover design, which can take a great deal of time, it is great to know that support and advice is there to guide you along. As well as the range of outlets that can be chosen at the end of the process to have your finished work available for sale in. All in all, a great experience.
What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
I suppose it is the idea in your head that you have to get down on paper, or computer, in reality. Taking the idea, expanding on it, developing plot and characters, backgrounds and settings, and pretty soon the original idea has grown into something tangible that has to be followed to completion. The best part is when you are drawing to the end of that first draft. The idea has become a tangible entity, a thing of reality, and it has all sprung from a thought in your head.
