Sue Williams is an award-winning journalist and columnist who's written for all of Australia's leading newspapers and magazines, as well as having her own opinion segment on a TV show. Born in England, she has also worked in print and TV in the UK and New Zealand and spent many years travelling extensively around the world.
Based in Sydney, she has written and published 22 books including a number of best-selling biographies, among them Mean Streets, Kind Heart: The Father Chris Riley Story, on the Catholic priest who's dedicated his life to helping Sydney's streetkids; Peter Ryan: The Inside Story on the controversial former NSW Police Commissioner; and Father Bob about Australia's highest profile campaigner for social justice.
Despite being a confirmed city-slicker, she's also written four immensely popular books about the Australian Outback. Her most recent is Heroines of the Outback, while the previous in the series, Welcome to the Outback, was about her own personal adventures exploring Australia's hinterland, which included taking part in a fight in a boxing tent, a cattle drive - her first time on horseback - and a trek through one of the most remote stretches of wilderness in the world.
Her first travel book was Getting There: Journeys of an Accidental Adventurer, about her time travelling the world alone with a backpack.
Crime-writing is also a passion, and she wrote And Then The Darkness about the Peter Falconio killing and the hounding of his girlfriend Joanne Lees, a book that was short-listed for the best true-crime book of the year in the international Gold Dagger Awards. In 2013, she wrote Left For Dead, about a policewoman's heart-wrenching fight for life after a brutal attack.
Other recent books include No Time For Fear, the remarkable story of shark attack survivor Paul De Gelder, The Girl Who Climbed Everest about Alyssa Azar, the youngest Australian ever to summit the world's highest mountain, and Gene Genius a book about how our genetics can predict and prevent disease and even determine personality traits.
Previous publications include Love, Obsession, Secrets & Lies, Death of a Doctor, Powering Up (a motivational women's health guide), and Apartment Living: The Complete Guide to Buying, Renting, Surviving and Thriving In Apartments.
