Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
Ha, Ha, Ha. I write on a laptop. My desk as been my very cluttered kitchen table, my pick-up truck, my bed, the couch, a beautiful flower filled meadow, next to an amazing lake in Northern Arizona while I was trout fishing, my sewing room, coffee shop, and wherever the creative juices start to flow. The one thing all these places have in common is my mascot BEAR is right there with me. She is a black bear, and she was a gift from the place that my heart calls home, the Appalachian mountains.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Southern Arizona and also Western Maryland. I remember from a very young age I would make up wild stories about the people on the airplanes, and in the area I was. I have always had a very vivid imagination, and spent a lot of my time alone. I was the child of a young mother. I spent most of my day with my Great Grandparents, my Maternal Grandma (While my mom finished school), my Paternal Grandma, and numerous Aunts and Uncles. When I was five years old, I met my terminally ill father, and he promised to live until I no longer needed him. He is still alive. Spending so time on both sides of the country, and having so many influential people, and cultural experiences have played a huge part of the stories that come to my mind. I grew up in a time where we didn't have electronic everything. I remember taking the mattress off my bed to make a fort in my room where I would spend so much time on my own I was able to strengthen my talent for wielding a good tale. There is nothing better than a good story made up by you and your imaginary friend.
