Wonderful story! The plot moves at a steady pace. The characters are well written. They have to face real issues about their relationship and don't get "the magic fix" to all their problems as some as one of them declares "I love you". You are drawn into the story & want Charlie & Evan to work things out. I highly recommend this book.
Great story!!! As a former Navy Wife, I can definitely relate to what Rhea goes though while being a "deployment widow", especially as Chad is a SEAL and she knows he's constantly in danger. The characters re well written and I especially loved how all Rhea's friends where always there to help her & how her "family" keeps growing. Can't wait for the next story in the series.
Wonderful story! I'll never think of Santa the same way again. Makes me want to be on the naughty list. Perfect blending of elements; a sweet love story, with humor and a twist of naughtiness added in.
The Wakefield Romance series continues with the story of Ellie-Mae Griggs and Bobby Timmons, whose story first started in "Coming Home".
Theresa brings to life great characters that work hard, play hard, and love even harder. This is not a "Disney-esque, fluffy-feel good" type of romance. It's real life struggles and fears. No one has life handed to them on a silver platter. These are real, believable characters, that we all can relate too. As Ellie and Bobby's relationship grows, you feel the emotions each character goes through.
The female characters in all of Theresa's stories go through a lot, and I do mean A LOT, of trials, and only grow stronger because of it.
I highly recommend this series, as well as her paranormal-romance series, The Broadus Supernatural Society Series.
Over all, this was a fairly good story. The characters are well written and have a lot of depth to them. There are many scenes that had me laughing and other parts where I wanted to also rip out someones hair. At first I was kind of annoyed at how Shelly was still hung up on Chase. However, as I continued to read through the story, I gained a better understanding of what Shelly was attempting to do, she wanted to know for sure if her feelings for Matt were because he was a "rebound" guy, or were they genuine. Matt was a pretty strong guy for not giving up and sticking in for the long haul. Most guys would have been done with that kind of BS within a few weeks.
My only problem with this book was the language of Shelly and her friend Mel. I didn't have any issues with the profanity at all, but the high-school slang being used by a pair of high school teachers in their early 30's just felt like they were trying desperately to hang onto their own youth and rebelliousness. I understand that Shelly and Mel had been friends for quite a long time and this was showing how close a relationship they have. However there were several times when I thought I was reading about a pair of 16 year old girls, instead of a pair adult women.
I would rate this book 3 1/2 out of 5 stars for realistic, likable characters and good plot line.
Once again, I've been fortunate enough to receive an ARC by this wonderful author and it did not disappoint! The action starts right from the very beginning and keeps on going. When I finished the book, I was breathless, my pulse was pounding, and my hands were shaking. Theresa's writing just keeps getting better and better with every new book. The action is as steamy as a Turkish Bath! You may need a cold shower by time you finish this book!
Rowena's Revenge is the 5th book in The Broadus Supernatural Society Series. If you've never read any of the other titles in the series, or it's just been a while since you have, not to worry. This is a stand alone story, but Theresa was also wonderful enough to provide a brief review of the series at the beginning of the book. Book 1 of the series, Siofra's Song, was also the first book TMH ever published, around 14 months ago. Her writing style has really grown and improved in that time. I can not wait to see where she takes us with her future books.
I really enjoyed this story and can't wait to find out what happens next with Janie and Matt in First Class to Portland. I loved the interaction between the two characters. They are both mature individuals, from different backgrounds. Janie is learning to live again after the passing of her husband. Matt learns that not all women are like his ex-wives and the women he's chosen to date in the past. AJ Harmon tells a wonderful story about second chances.
***For those of you who don't like cliff hangers, be advised that this is a cliff-hanger and the story continues in "First Class to Portland".***
