Tally Scully

Biography

Tally Scully grew up in Mississippi and has walked the path of many Southern authors giving voice to her connection to the land, understanding of complex race relations, devotion to family, and a dedication to long-standing traditions.

Tally's first book with niece Callie LaValle, Houdini and the Magic Molt, is a children's educational adventure story that teaches a curious praying mantis about the plants, animals and insects in his garden. This book was selected and considered for the prestigious Ezra Jack Keats New Writer and New Illustrator Awards through the de Grummond Children's Literature Collection.

In 2013, Tally was chosen as a contributor for the community novel project, Ashes in a Teardrop. There she met bestselling author of the Cole Sage mystery series, Micheal Maxwell. The two have now finished their first Teen and Young Adult collaboration, The Time Pedaler, the exciting story of a time-traveling teen. They are currently working on the next book in The Time Pedaler series.

A committed conservationist, Tally is spearheading projects through the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program. She works with garden clubs in various communities around Northern California helping to create sustainable ecological progress and raise awareness for the natural world.

Blessed with a perma-grin and joyful heart, Tally seeks to share with others the fundamental truths she has found in music, art, literature and nature. You'll likely find her hiking along a river, dancing freely to music, photographing a mountainous peak, tending her bees, stooping low to admire a beautiful bloom, reading classic novels, or shopping the local farmer's market.
