Smashwords Interview

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?
The greatest joy of writing for me is losing myself in a story. I love it when I get going and then I realize that it is three hours later and I have a crick in my neck and another chapter finished. Being in that state of creative flow when the words seem to slide from my mind to my fingers to the keyboard to the page, is an incredible experience. Sometimes, when I get deeply involved in a story, but I can't wright at that moment for some reason, the scene I am working on plays in my head over and over until I can put it down on (virtual) paper.
What do your fans mean to you?
My fans are the biggest reason I write. I love reading fantasy myself and consider myself a fan of other authors, and I know how much their writing brings to my life. I love when I can craft a story that makes someone laugh or cry or get stressed out over the angst and drama. Although most actual writing takes place privately, I feel that it is actually a relationship with me, my readers and the characters of the story. My fans are an integral part of that relationship, fleshing out my characters with their imaginations and then closing the loop of creativity by coming back for more.
