Tasha Temple

Tasha began writing when she was a child and completed her first screenplay when she was just seven years old. She continued to write profusely throughout her childhood and into her adult years, winning awards for her short stories.

Tasha originally hailed from the West Coast, graduated from the University of Alaska and made Anchorage her home where she practiced as an attorney. After moving to Hawaii, Tasha decided to turn her complete attention to her true love of writing fiction. She now writes from her home on Maui and routinely draws inspiration from the beautiful Hawaiian scenery.

Tasha is a hopeless romantic, devoted to love and happy endings. Her novels are always steamy, sensual, adventurous and suspenseful. She enjoys exploring different genres and you are likely to find her characters making their way in an exciting variety of times, settings and even worlds. Tasha loves crafting romantic fiction and hopes that you have as much fun reading her books as she does writing them.

Smashwords Interview

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
The first story I remember writing was a full screenplay when I was seven. I created the characters, prepared the script, organized the neighborhood kids, auditioned them for the parts, designed costumes, goaded them into memorizing their lines, kept them rehearsing and then presented my "production" to all of the parents and any other adults I could gather. I crafted the story entirely from my head but looking back, it was mostly a cross between Jack and the Beanstalk and Little Red Riding Hood.

I remember that I had the tallest boy with bright red hair play the part of a speaking tree. I wrapped a brown and white leopard print beach towel around him and had him hold a pink parasol. He was about 12. I must have had great powers of persuasion. I gave the younger kids (ages 3-5) non-speaking parts as "villagers." They were to mill around mumbling to themselves at specified intervals. They did a great job.

I rigged huge sheets across a clothesline to hide the set from the parents until they were all seated and ready to watch. The show began, I directed the kids, they performed beautifully and everyone received tremendous applause from the audience. But things hadn't gone 'perfectly' in my mind and I began to cry. I ran from the set, fell on cement and skinned my knee almost to the bone. Alas, the budding writer/director/producer, too young to realize just putting on the show was an amazing experience.
Describe your desk
I work at a massive, old-style medium-brown behemoth of a desk. It isn't too messy although I usually have a small pile of miscellaneous papers on it. I share the space with two monitors, a telephone and a miniature weather station. I keep an original, orangish lava lamp running next to my keyboard. It is soothing, intriguing and boosts my creativity. I face a window which looks out onto amazing Hawaiian scenery.

For decor, I have a wrinkly, white cauliflower coral on my desk that I found washed up on a windward shore in the Turks and Caicos. And I almost always have something on my desk my son has created for me -- a replica of myself, a card of love, a 'recycled' collection of bottles taped together. Oh and I can't forget my fashionable empty espresso mug.
