With help from his family, Steve Hubner has managed Dower’s Prairie since 1989. He was born and raised in Lafayette County, Wisconsin, and earned degrees in wildlife biology and biology from the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point. For 35 years he was the zoning administrator for Lafayette County. He received juju training in Cameroon, as a Peace Corp
volunteer, specializing in fish production. Today, he volunteers a lot of time with The Prairie Enthusiasts, cutting down trees, clearing brush, and anything else that needs doing to enhance native prairies and savannas. His first book is Dower's Prairie through the Seasons, a photographic tour of his favorite place.
