Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Dublin Ireland, born in 1945. These were hard times with religion, poverty and mendacity. Hard times can be good times. As values are simple. And as the Beatles said, love is all you need.
It was necessary to become oneself in part by rising above and climbing out of the way things were done around the then value system
When did you first start writing?
I started story telling when my kids were young and I was trying to settle them down to sleep. I started writing fiction in my forties but didn't produce anything worth publishing until my fifties.
My father came from a remote Irish speaking part of Ireland. In those parts there was an oral tradition of story telling and maybe I picked up some if this.
