Describe your desk
Believe it or not, we live in a duplex with limited room. So with three males in the house (hubby and two teenage sons) the need for a communal eating space, that's not in front of the big screen TV, is pretty freaking low. That means my desk closely resembles the dining room table.
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
My family lived in Glendale, CA until right before I started High School, when we moved to a booming start up city in Riverside County, CA, called Moreno Valley. Having to leave the friends I had grown up with was definitely difficult. Along with immersing myself in my studies, I discovered a series of books my mother was reading, Clan of the Cave Bear.
I was hooked. Utterly and completely. A strong woman. An impossible situation. Obstacles thrown at her from every avenue. Always, inspite of the circumstances, rising above her situation.
This is the theme I fell in love with, and have tried to convey through the female characters I write. And I don't believe I would have found this inspiration, if I hadn't sought the solace of books after leaving my childhood home.
