Biography

Toni Kenyon lives in Auckland with her husband (and their two dogs) the goldfish are just squatting! She writes romance by day, sings in a band by night and in her spare (yeah, right) time she wrangles difficult heroes into line, so they can star in her next novel. Toni also loves the garden and has a special place in her heart for her fruit trees and her veggie patch. A keen amateur photographer, Toni posts “Mood of the Suburbs” shots across most of her social media profiles. She loves to hear from like-minded people, so pop on over and say 'Hi' any time.

Do you remember the first story you ever wrote?
I don't remember the actual title of the first story that I wrote, but I do recall that I started writing 'serious romances' in my high school French class! French is supposed to be the 'language of love' but I guess the mechanics of the language didn't inspire me to learn, but it did inspire me to start writing romance.
What is your writing process?
It's pretty much the 'usual'. BOCHOK - butt on chair, hands on keyboard and start typing. I usually envisage a scene, start writing it and then play with the characters for a while, until I get a feel for the kind of story they're trying to tell me. Then, once I have an idea of who these people are and where they're going to take me, I sit down and try and map out a few key points that I think we should all cover off. It's doesn't always go smoothly, but hey, I enjoy the ride.
