Tzigane

Biography

Tzigane grew up in Southern, California. His mother worked in the Hollywood film industry. His father published a series of three titles in San Francisco. It was inevitable that these influences from film and fiction would kindle an interest in writing screenplays and novels.
Life does not always lead in a straight line however. By the time he became a young adult, the country had been swept by 'space' fever and he worked in Aerospace where he developed an interest in programming and artificial intelligence.
Moving to Tokyo, he was a copywriter for various Japanese firms and developed software for his own company where he was also editor of a trade magazine. After returning to the U.S., he finished his degree in English Literature at the University of California at Berkeley in 1990.
These various interests, A.I., literature and writing finally came together in the last ten years when wrote screenplays (both dramatic and action/adventure) and a novel. One of these screenplays, 'Grail-5' deals with our world in the near future (2064) and the collision of Transhumanism and the nanotechnology revolution. That screenplay became the basis for a novel, 'The Turnings of Fire.'

Smashwords Interview

What motivated you to become an indie author?
A massive earthquake is hitting print publishers with the advent of e-books. With distribution models and access for indie authors changing, I find this to be an incredible time to write and get my work out to the reading public.
How has Smashwords contributed to your success?
No doubt. I'm new to this, but using a company such as Smashwords makes sense. Of course, unless you put in the work to prepare your manuscript or have someone help you do it, your chances for success are lower. However, I think Smashwords provided a place for proactive authors to create an audience for themselves.
