Vanessa Deroo

Biography

Vanessa grew up with British pop and punk music, then made several attempts to play some of that music before finding peace writing about it. She then moved to the British soil, and now listens to said music when she's not writing stories or articles.

She also has a soft spot for Taylor Swift's music and would have loved to live in a John Hughes movie.

Smashwords Interview

How do you approach cover design?
I am sadly one of these people with loads of ideas but no drawing/design talent (I've tried, though). So I basically write ideas down, about what the story (or, with Paper Ghosts, the set of stories) is, what it means to me, what I want to evoke, and my good friend and crazy-talented designer Luke Basset mixes everything and does his magic.
What do you read for pleasure?
Young Adult mainly, and anything music-related. I also love biographies and essays on feminism.

There are stories of love, stories of loss. Stories you wouldn't think are real, and yet they are, of course they are, because the people who lived them are here to tell them. Stories of letting go, stories of moving on. Stories of second chances. Stories of people looking for something.Ghost stories, caught on paper to be real.
