Helen Page

Biography

Helen hasn't always been a writer. She was diagnosed with womb cancer at the age of 36, only 2 short months after getting married. Following diagnosis came a period of soul searching, researching and revisions to her daily diet and lifestyle choices. Feeling empowered and in some ways healthier than ever before, Helen set about putting her experiences and knowledge down on paper in the hope of helping other people with the cancer. This is how 'Beat Cancer's Butt' came about.

Helen holds degrees from the University of Birmingham and the University of Southampton. She worked as full time a social worker in the UK before her partner was offered a job in Hong Kong. Helen and her now husband have lived in Hong Kong for 18 months and are enjoying the life experiences this move has given them.

Smashwords Interview

When did you first start writing?
I've always enjoyed writing and love books. By the time I was 3 months into my cancer treatment, I had piles of research print-outs deposited around the apartment and various charts pinned to the fridge! I felt I'd learnt so much in such a short space of time and had used that knowledge to make serious changes to my diet and life style choices. In some ways, I'd never felt healthier! Sharing this information felt like the right thing to do in the hope of helping fellow cancer sufferers. That's when I began putting this book together. It's been a joy to write!
What inspires you to get out of bed each day?
I must admit I've never been a morning person, I'm much more a night owl! The thought of two consecutive mugs of coffee gets me out of bed...there's nothing like the smell of fresh coffee in the morning and I can't start the day without my go-go juice!
