Warne was born in Ballarat, a provincial city in Victoria. After an interesting and varied career he has found time at last to write. The seed of this short story was sown when a woodworker friend showed him an authentic clog skate he was restoring for a Dutch family.
Warne has found success with short story competitions and one of his stories was included in a printed anthology in 2011.
An interesting unadorned history of the author's experiences growing up in wartime Australia. His descriptions of wartime school and home defences reminded me of mine in Ballarat Victoria at that time. Well written and a good and entertaining read.
