Jay Conlin

Smashwords Interview

Describe your desk
You don't really want to know...frankly, since I work from home but travel quite often for work, my "desk" is either in my backpack or potentially in front of whatever fireplace I can find (home, hotel lobby, tavern). I use ziplock bags so I can find my "stuff" (flash drives, cords, business cards).
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan but because I was an idiot student I was shipped off to boarding school in Pennsylvania. I was able to rally and graduated from UW-Madison. A great city and school. I have since lived in Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Toledo, OH, Jacksonville, Fl, Orlando, Fl, Newtown, Ct (yes that Newtown...a wonderful place) and Just outside of Reading, PA. I think all of the different experiences have led to me being able to see things from many perspectives not just my own...

I have worked in HR for over twenty five years with a heavy emphasis on Labor Relations so over the years I have seen many good and many bad HR and business practices. This makes me want to share those lessons when I write about business or HR related matters.
