Wendy Walker

This is my first ever novel, however A Cottage In The Vale was a project a long time ago but lost my only copy of the manuscript and the title had always continued to be in my head. Until one day in 2011 I frantically started writing a few words, thinking characters and A Cottage In The Vale was born. I have written short stories in the past but none that I was proud of as I am for this book.

Smashwords Interview

How do you approach cover design?
The cover design was a photo I had taken in Kettlewell, when me and partner visited Yorkshire and despite the rainy day managed to salvage a pretty decent picture. I guess I have focused on the setting of Yorkshire.
What are your five favorite books, and why?
I've read so many, my favourite authors are Katie Flynn mainly but I love the work of Michael Palin, Nancy Drew (yes she is a young adult book but I love her). My earliest novel book reading was Catherine Cookson and I accredit the idea for A Cottage In The Vale from her Cinder Path book. They are totally different but it is the name Charlie in the book which inspired Charles in mine.
