Smashwords Interview

What's the story behind your latest book?
I've received a lot of positive feedback on my presentations and workshops on EQ-i 2.0, and people often ask for my PowerPoint deck, which I actually don't like to give out. I enjoy creating PowerPoint and it's a vital part of my speech or workshop preparation. I spend hours putting them together and refining them. The presentations also contain some proprietary slides I've attained permission to use from others, so I cannot ethically distribute those. But I wanted to find a way to share the conversation I create in my presentations, so began writing brief but concept rich articles on each of the Subscales of EQ-i 2.0. I received many great comments regarding the articles as well as requests for permission to use them as part of workshop material. So I wanted to make a copyrighted version that colleagues could purchase and use at a very reasonable price. I refined the articles added some material and published the booklet.
What motivated you to become an indie author?
These days, it's the way to go! It's a simple process and as my book is a small book with a specific audience. Finding a publisher could have taken a long time.
