Scott David Harrison

Biography

Scott David Harrison is a Canadian author, editor and journalist living in Cornwall, England.

Scott has written professionally for the past 23 years for a number of newspapers and magazines across Canada, the United Kingdom and America. Scott has won a number of awards along the way, his column recognized for its humor, wit and self-effacing look at everyday life.

Originally from the beautiful Comox Valley, British Columbia, Scott graduated from Bishop’s University in Quebec, with an honors degree in sociology and political science. That naturally prepared him well for a career in...well, not a great deal really. However, after a chance meeting with a newspaper editor over a beer in the G pub in Lennoxville, Scott was offered a reporter’s position with a small daily in Quebec.

That was beginning of a beautiful relationship between Scott and the written word as he took pad and pen on tour across North America before finding himself living in Cornwall, England. Scott is currently the commissioning editor of the Western Morning News, the largest regional daily newspaper in the South West of England.

The journey has been all the more remarkable because Scott is dyslexic, something he sees as a both curse and a blessing. Scott has spent a great deal of time speaking to school and parenting organizations, discussing dyslexia and the techniques he has employed to realize his writing potential.

Above anything else, however, Scott is the father of two amazing boys who remind him how to laugh and love each and every day. For that he is truly grateful.

Away from the joys of writing and trials of fatherhood, Scott enjoys a number of outdoor activities, including skiing, kayaking, hiking, cycling and soccer. He favorite activity, however, is hockey – sadly not a sport that is about to take England by storm anytime soon.
