Karla Jennings is a newspaper reporter turned playwright and book author. As a playwright she is an O’Neill Playwrights Conference finalist and recipient of two Sloan commissions. Other honors include The National Arts Club Playwrights First Award, the John Gassner New Play Award (SUNY Stony Brook), Lark Playwrights’ Week, and residencies at New River Dramatists and Hedgebrook, as well as a Goethe Institut fellowship.
Recent productions include Free at Stageworks/Hudson's 2012 “Play By Play” Festival and Whacking the Turkey produced November 2011 in Denver by And Toto Too Theatre Company. Her freelance articles have appeared in the online theater magazine HowlRound as well as The New York Times, Newsweek, Cosmopolitan, and elsewhere. She co-founded Atlanta’s Working Title Playwrights, serving three years as founding artistic managing director, and published a book on computer folklore (The Devouring Fungus, W.W. Norton & Co.). She’s excited to be publishing through Smashwords. Love to the Man of Numbers and to the two adolescent divisions.
