Biography

I was born in the Medway Towns, UK, grew up in the gritty terrace housing of the main road to an industrial estate. Wrote my first novel aged 11 and hasn't stopped telling stories since.
I've trekked extensively around the wilderness of Norway and Finland, ran a cabaret show in London's Soho for four years, ran an ultra marathon (which I'll never do again) and have lived in Eastern Cambodia.
I now live in Australia with my wife in a little flat with a fantastic garden and I enjoy a beer in the evening and cooking interesting dinners!

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?
I grew up in a terraced house, on a main road to an industrial estate in a single parent family and my Dad was unemployed for 13 years.
It's funny how it's come to influence my writing, I often write about characters that either struggle with the environment they've been placed in, or people that have pushed themselves forward but have the ghosts that scare the life out of them as the story evolves around them.
When did you first start writing?
My first story was in my Nan and Granddads garden, aged 7. I was hiding under a bush looking at snails and I'd taken my colouring book with me. I started writing stories about snail people with my crayon instead of colouring in the pictures!
